The former president of the Ashburn Youth Football League was charged Feb. 5 with having embezzled approximately $7,500 from the organization, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
Louis E. Turpin, 46, reportedly had access to the AYFL’s bank accounts as part of his position, and league officials earlier this year discovered irregularities in the league’s financial records.
Following an investigation, the LCSO Financial Crimes Unit found Turpin had written checks from the AYFL’s accounts in 2019 for personal expenditures.
Turpin reportedly turned himself over to authorities last Friday and was charged with two felony warrants of embezzlement.
Per the LCSO, he was later released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a personal recognizance bond.
