A collision involving a Loudoun County Fire & Rescue engine and a tractor trailer in Lucketts sent four people to the hospital Tuesday morning, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

According to a press release, the incident occurred at the intersection of Route 15 and Stumptown Road around 6:11 a.m. as the LCFR engine was responding to an incident.

After having stopped to clear cross traffic at the intersection, the engine reportedly proceeded through the intersection and was struck by a tractor trailer that was unable to stop.

Three members of LCFR and the driver of the tractor trailer were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries, per LCSO officials.

An investigator with the LCSO Truck Safety Unit reportedly found multiple safety violations on the tractor trailer, after which the driver was issued a summons for failure to maintain control.

Those who may have witnessed the collision are asked to contact LCSO Dept. Douglas Lake at 703-737-8307 or douglas.lake@loudoun.gov.
