A construction worker from Herndon died Nov. 21 from injuries sustained during a fall in the Ashburn area, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's office officials on Nov. 28 said the victim was 49-year-old Jose Escalante.

Around 10:20 a.m. the day before Thanksgiving, deputies responded to the 22000 block of Dolomite Hills Drive, where authorities say Escalante fell approximately 10-30 feet from a ladder while working construction on a residence. He succumbed to injuries after being taken to a local hospital.

An LCSO spokesman said all indications are the death was an accident.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration also responded to the scene, according to the LCSO.

Correction: This story has been updated to correct where the incident occurred. While the sheriff's office report states Aldie, the street address is Ashburn.
