Battlefield Parkway Detour

Traffic will be detoured around the closure via Crosstrail Boulevard and Russell Branch Parkway or River Creek Parkway and Fort Evans Road, depending on the direction.

The Virginia Department of Transportation’s Northern Virginia District has detailed detour plans for the 10-month closure of Battlefield Parkway at Route 7 scheduled to begin later this month.

Leesburg town officials say the closure is necessary for the construction of the bridge that will carry Battlefield Parkway traffic over Route 7.

Once the closure is in place, the traffic signal at the intersection will be removed. Through-traffic on Route 7 will not be affected by the detours, according to town officials.

Traffic will be detoured around the closure via Crosstrail Boulevard and Russell Branch Parkway or River Creek Parkway and Fort Evans Road, depending on the direction. During the Battlefield Parkway closure, motorists should expect to see additional traffic enforcement in the construction zone and along the detour routes.

The $77 million bridge project is expected to be completed in fall 2021.

Town Council could have kept the intersection open while there was work being done but all of them vote against it but Dunn. There was about a million more cost but just wait to see how much fun the next two years will be like. River creek enjoy the traffic jam.

May this be one more nail in the coffin for Trip II.

Can't come soon enough! If I were queen of this county it would have been overpassed when it was built. It would have cost the taxpayers a lot less money.

I'm mainly concerned about how this will affect the upcoming opening of First Watch in that shopping center. :)

Worth the wait and the minor inconvenience for one less red light! This is great news.

For those that have been in Loudoun for a while, does it not feel like this intersection was just opened and our leaders should have had the forethought to originally build this overpass?

You can thank the town of Leesburg for this boondoggle. Everything they touch is a disaster. Just look at the train wreck of the RT 15 bypass...

It will be painful, but good. I feel sorry for the business owners near Giant. First COVID and then a loss of traffic. I hope they make it.

Bravo on this upgrade and for keeping route 7 flowing during the process.
