A Leesburg man was arrested in Ashburn Tuesday night after allegedly causing a hit-and-run while under the influence of alcohol, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to the intersection of Route 7 and Belmont Ridge Road around 8:16 p.m. for a two-vehicle crash after which one of the drivers reportedly fled the scene.

Authorities quickly located the suspect and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver was allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol and had a revoked driver's license.

Manyor F. Melgar, 32, of Leesburg, was charged with driving while intoxicated, hit-and-run and driving on a revoked license — his third such offense.

As of Wednesday morning, the suspect was being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a $2,500 bond.

Again, are the police waiting for him to kill someone with his vehicle while driving drunk? Bond only $2,500?

Rational - the police don't set bond a judge does.
