A female was reportedly assaulted in Ashburn Tuesday night while walking in the wooded area near her home, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Officials say the victim was walking near the 21700 block of Crescent Park Square around 6:11 p.m. when a male approached her.

The suspect displayed an object that may have been a knife and assaulted the victim, causing a laceration to her abdomen. He then fled the scene on foot.

The victim was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.

LCSO deputies searched the area but were reportedly unable to locate the suspect.

Authorities describe the suspect as black, approximately 6-feet-tall and wearing dark clothing and a black beanie.

The case and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

It would be helpful in LTM mentioned Broadlands somewhere in the article or in the headline. Ashburn is a pretty big place. At least a street name and map were included.
