The victim identified in this investigation — 44-year old Regina Redman-Lollobrigido — died Sunday night as a result of injuries sustained during this assault, according to a statement published Monday by the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. The case is now being investigated as a homicide, and Lollobrigido remains in custody with additional charges pending.
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office announced September 20 that it has charged 49-year-old Peter Lollobrigido of Sterling with attempted murder, aggravated malicious assault and violation of a protective order following a domestic violence incident.
The sheriff's office said in a statement that deputies responded to a call at the 42200 block of Glascock Field Terrace in Sterling around 3:30 p.m. September 19. Sheriff's Office officials allege that Lollobrigido attacked his wife and struck her with a hammer inside an apartment at the Stone Springs complex, according to the statement.
Lollobrigido's wife was taken to a local hospital where she was being treated for life-threatening injuries and was reported to be in critical condition on the night of September 19, according to the sheriff's office.
Lollobrigido is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
