Loudoun County is planning to purchase property in Leesburg after the Board of Supervisors voted following a May 7 closed session to acquire the space for $1.15 million.
Engle Paxson and Hawthorne Insurance currently occupies the office space located on the quarter-acre property at 114 Edwards Ferry Road in Leesburg, according to county records.
The property has a parking lot in the back of the building and is about a three-minute walk from the Loudoun County Government Center. It also neighbors county property at 106 Edwards Ferry Road.
The acquisition is being made to provide additional office space around the government center, according to Loudoun County Public Affairs and Communications Officer Glen Barbour.
Following closed session, the board directed staff to finalize negotiations and consummate the purchase.
The measure was approved on a 7-0-2 vote, with supervisors Geary Higgins (R-Catoctin) and Kristen Umstattd (D-Leesburg) absent.
