Car incident south Leesburg

Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office authorities say they are investigating an incident south of Leesburg where someone's windshield appears to have been fired upon.

Around 8:18 p.m. Saturday, a driver and passenger reported that someone driving a dark-colored truck began tailgating them in the area of Evergreen Mills Road and Shreve Mill Road.

Authorities say the driver and passenger continued to travel on Evergreen Mills Road into Leesburg when they heard a loud noise followed by the rear window shattering.

The vehicle damage occurred near Evergreen Mills Road near English Yew Place.

The suspect vehicle was further described as a four-door truck with wide side mirrors, according to the sheriff's office.

Authorities say it appears the window was damaged by a projectile, but the exact cause remains under investigation. No one inside the damaged vehicle was injured during the incident.

Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to contact Detective S. Coderre of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 703-777-1021. You can also submit a tip through the LCSO app, which is available on the iTunes App Store and Google Play.

The Town of Leesburg Police Department is assisting with the investigation.
