Lovettsville-based Flying Ace Distillery received multiple awards at the North American Bourbon and Whiskey Competition over the weekend, according to a press release from the distillery.
Flying Ace’s Blended Bourbon Cask Strength was awarded Double Gold and the Blended Bourbon 90 proof was awarded Silver.
The Tasting Awards were held over three days by a panel of industry professionals. Competition judges cast their votes for the best spirit entries in more than 64 different categories.
They awarded medals for first, second and third place for each qualifying category and best of show. Competition management then reviewed all judge’s scores to determine additional awards and citations for Double Gold and Best of Show.
“We are honored to accept these awards at this year’s North American Bourbon and Whiskey Competition,” said Greg Moore, master distiller at Flying Ace Distillery in a prepared statement. “This was a team effort. We are all extremely proud of the awards and are excited to make Flying Ace Farm and the agricultural bounty Loudoun County, Virginia has to offer a major player in the nationwide bourbon distillery landscape.”
Flying Ace Farm Distillery and Brewery opened in April and is owned by Leesburg residents Hadi and Kim Akkad in partnership with Brian and Kirsten Jenkins and Pete and Tyler Thomas.
