The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal workplace accident involving a man who was struck by a marble slab at a business in Sterling shortly after 4:30 p.m. Thursday, according to a Friday press release.

The victim was identified as 27-year-old Serdar Yozgat of Springfield, officials said.

Sheriff’s deputies, along with Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue personnel, responded to a call at the 21500 block of Atlantic Boulevard in Sterling on Thursday, where it was reported that Yozgat was struck by a marble slab as he and other employees attempted to move the stone, the release states.

Officials said detectives from the sheriff’s office are conducting an investigation into the incident in coordination with the Virginia Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Office of the Medical Examiner.There is no indication of foul play in the incident, the sheriff’s office said.
