The town of Middleburg will host its inaugural Oktoberfest Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at locations around town.
The semi-annual Art in the Burg street party will be part of the festivities, which will be held on South Madison Street. Art in the Burg, featuring work from more than 15 local artists, opens at 10 a.m., and the Old Ox Beer Garden will open at noon. The first Oktoberfest beer keg will be delivered to the festival by horse-drawn wagon pulled by four Belgian horses from Whitestone Farm in Aldie.
Local bands Something’s Brewing and a Roaming Duo will provide the soundtrack for the day. Feats of Strength will also be held, including stein raising and log sawing contests.
Traditional Oktoberfest food will be available for purchase from local food vendors. Oktoberfest beer from Old Ox Brewery, wine from Greenhill, Cana Vineyards, 50 West and Boxwood wineries and cider from Mt. Defiance Cidery and Distillery will be available for purchase. Regional artisans will also be present throughout the day with exhibits of fine art, pottery, jewelry, wearable art and more.
Oktoberfest is free to attend and features a number of family-friendly activities. Traditional Bavarian attire is encouraged but not required. Visit Facebook.com/MiddleburgOktoberfest for event updates.
The inaugural Middleburg Oktoberfest celebration is sponsored by Sonabank, Old Ox Brewery, the Town of Middleburg and Visit Loudoun.
