The Leesburg Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that reportedly occurred in a Leesburg apartment complex on the evening of Jan. 14, according to officials.

Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Rd. NE around 5:28 p.m. for a report of a subject brandishing a firearm, though responders were reportedly unable to locate the suspect.

A few minutes later, officers were called back to the apartment complex for a report of an armed robbery involving a suspect whose description matched that given in the brandishing report.

According to the LPD, the suspect was determined to have assaulted a victim — to whom the suspect was known — and to have taken an undetermined amount of money and personal property from the victim before fleeing in a vehicle.

Anyone with information about either the brandishing incident or the alleged robbery who has not yet spoken with law enforcement is asked to call Detective C. Hill at 703-771-4500 or chill@leesburgva.gov.

Those wishing to remain anonymous can call 703-443-8477 or send a text message to 274637 and begin the message with “LPDTIP.”
