Casey Frederick and Family

Casey Frederick, a teacher at Potomac Falls High School in Sterling, will compete on "Wheel of Fortune" Sept. 11.

Potomac Falls High School special education teacher and basketball coach Casey Frederick will compete on "Wheel of Fortune" next week.

Frederick is participating as part of "Teacher's Week," which will kick-off the show's new season. He and two other teachers will face one another Sept. 11 to spin the famous wheel and solve word puzzles to win vacations, new cars, cash prizes and other rewards.

Frederick, who grew up in Ohio and has been teaching at the Sterling high school for seven years, was inspired to become a teacher by the teachers he had in high school. He is married with two children and enjoys going to wineries and breweries, playing golf and watching "Wheel of Fortune" with his family every night. He hopes to win enough money to take a trip to Disney with his family.

"Wheel of Fortune" airs weeknights at 7 p.m. on ABC 7 (WJLA).
