The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what led up to a man and a woman both being found dead at an Ashburn home, a release said.
A follow-up release sent on Thursday confirmed the deaths are being investigated as a 'suspected domestic-related murder-suicide.'
According to the release, investigators responded to a home on the 20060 block of Old Line Terrace just before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday for an adult male on fire outside the home, a representative from the Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Wednesday.
The man, identified on Thursday as John N. Ratib Sharmoukh, 45, had apparently jumped from the third-floor window of the three-story town house, the representative said.
Once inside, investigators found a deceased woman, identified on Thursday as Mariam A. Farouk Kamal, 31, in the home on the third floor, the release said.
The identities of the two individuals are not being released at this time, while LCSO works to identify next-of-kin. According to the representative, the deceased were originally from Egypt, and had no family members in the United States.
Besides the two adults, three children live in the home, the Sheriff’s Office representative confirmed, but they were at school at the time of the incident.
Loudoun County Public Schools are working to assist the children, the representative confirmed.
The investigation is being conducted in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the release said.
