Sterling malicious wounding, abduction

A Sterling man was arrested early Monday morning for cutting a roommate with a knife and threatening five other occupants, including four children, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

At 6:32 a.m. deputies responded to a residence on the 10th block of Wedgedale Drive in Sterling, where they encountered a man armed with a large butcher knife, as well as a second knife, and who had reportedly threatened the other occupants of the home.

Officials said that while deputies certified in crisis intervention training began conversing with the subject, additional deputies at the rear of the home used a neighbor’s ladder to remove the six other occupants.

Deputies continued to converse with the man for a period of time, ordering him to drop the knives several times. He ultimately complied and was taken into custody without further incident.

LCSO said the subject, Geraldo E. Martinez, 21, of Sterling, had been involved in an altercation with a roommate prior to deputies' arrival.

The victim received non-life-threatening injuries during the incident.

Martinez was charged with malicious wounding and six counts of abduction, and is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
