A man was arrested Sunday morning in Sterling after authorities reportedly found marijuana in his vehicle, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to the intersection of Harry Byrd Highway and Cedar Drive around 11:28 a.m. for a report of a crash without injuries.

Upon contacting the driver, deputies reportedly noticed the scent of marijuana coming from his vehicle.

Officials say several small bags of the drug and distribution equipment were located in the vehicle, and more illicit materials were found discarded in the vicinity.

Christian M. Adlam, 20, of Sterling, was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and obstruction of justice.

As of Monday evening, Adlam was being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond.

Obviously, commenters didn't read carefully. The suspect was 20 years of age, no decriminalization efforts would include those under 21. Further, this wasn't a "small amount." Intent to Distribute in Virginia means AT LEAST half an ounce since he is being held. This guy is a drug dealer. That's what they're called. Might even be selling to your kid and their friends. You don't know, so why come to his defense so readily? Jeesh.

"Gee Wally. I didn't think a half an ounce was very much weight?"

"It's not very much at all Beaver. In fact, calling someone with that small of an amount of weed a drug dealer only shows ones' advanced age".

I agree it’s a waste of time and money to prosecute him for possession and distribution when it will surely soon be legalized. If he was driving while high though then that does warrant a DUI arrest.

Cannot believe you run an article about pot arrest without sharing that the VA House has voted (overwhelmingly) to decriminalize marijuana position in Virginia.

What a shame this kid has to be in an orange zoot suit because of a little weed. This is really sad. This is really a waste of tax payers money, police time and this poor kid now has a record for smoking weed. :(

Just legalize it already, enough of this. waste of time and money.

I believe having a small amount may have passed today.
