Dulles-based nonprofit Veterans Moving Forward plans to revamp its long-dormant fundraising efforts with Drives for Dogs, which is scheduled for July 23 at 1757 Golf Club in Dulles.
VMF relies largely on fundraising to bolster its operations, in which it raises and trains service dogs to offer physical and emotional assistance to military veterans with physical or mental challenges.
However, following the onset of the COVID-19 health crisis, the nonprofit was forced to cancel nearly 30 events that had been scheduled through this month. Its only gains since then have come from individual contributions, according to President and CEO Gordon Sumner.
Drives for Dogs will be a welcome return to community fundraising for VMF, and organizers have provided several exciting incentives to draw participants, including unlimited balls and competitions.
Tickets cost $50 each, and attendees are asked to RSVP by July 16 by mailing the entry fee to Veterans Moving Forward at 44225 Mercure Circle, Sterling, VA 20166. The event will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 45120 Waxpool Road in Dulles.
