Christopher Gordon mugshot

Christopher R. Gordon

A Woodbridge man was arrested Sept. 1 in Sterling and charged with driving while intoxicated and a weapons violation, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

A deputy conducted a traffic stop in the early-morning hours after witnessing a vehicle traveling well below the posted speed limit, swerving and unable to maintain lane control.

Authorities say the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and that he was in possession of a firearm.

Christopher R. Gordon, 45, of Woodbridge, was charged with DWI, carrying a concealed handgun while under the influence of alcohol and refusal to provide a breath test.

Gordon was released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a $2,500 bond.

Nothing to see here. Just another good guy with a gun, keeping us safe. I know I always feel safer around people when they're drinking if they're armed

So this case boils down to whether he was drunk because it seems like he had a license to conceal carry, which is invalid if you're drunk. This is where responsible gun ownership comes into play. If he was sober he was responsible. If he was drunk (a) he shouldn't have been driving and (b) he shouldn't have been armed.

Yup...and if we were to be just a teeny bit more vigilant in the issuance of these conceal carry permits we'd all be a lot safer.
