Albert L. Bland, 88, of St. Louis, VA, passed away on January 29, 2020, at Stone Springs Hospital Center. He was born on January 31, 1931, in Upperville, VA, the son of the late Albert Bland and Bessie Spinnie Bland. Albert retired from the Rand Corporation in 1999 after over 30 years of service. He also worked as a jockey for 15 years due to his love of horses. Albert was known as the unofficial “Mayor” of St. Louis, VA, and was very socially active in Loudoun County. He also attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Aldie, VA. Albert was the beloved husband of 63 years to Anna L. Bland; loving and devoted father of Glenn (Antoinette) Bland of Tampa, FL, Mason (Robin) Bland of Ashburn, VA, Linda (Jason) Roback of Knoxville, TN, and the late Doug Powell and Brenda Hunter; proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family received friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 3 at Royston Funeral Home, 106 E. Washington Street, Middleburg. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 4 at Middleburg UMC, 15 W. Washington Street, Middle-burg, with the Rev. Dr. E. Allen Stewart officiating.
