Betty M. Potter

Betty Morris Potter, 71, of Bluemont, Virginia, died Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at her home. Mrs. Potter was born October 28, 1947, in Butler County, Alabama, the daughter of the late Auburn Morris and Jewel Lowry Morris. She was a substitute teacher. She was active in the Bluemont com-munity and was a chair for the Bluemont Fair. She was one of the founders of the Arts in the Foothills. She was a member of the Alzheimer’s Assocation and the American Cancer Society. She married Michael Elmer Potter on January 14, 1978, in Milton, Florida. Mr. Potter died January 2, 2017. Surviving are a son, Ron A. Potter (Samantha) of Martinsburg, WV; a sister, Carol M. Stuart (Kenny) of Pace, FL; four grand-children, Virginia Robinson, Tess Robinson, Nathaniel Potter, and Liam Potter; a god-daughter, Tenisha Tamuty of Pace, FL; and a great-niece, Chloe Tamuty of Pace, FL. Three brothers, Bobby Morris, Billy Morris, and Larry Morris preceded her in death. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 1833 Plaza Drive, Winchester, VA 22601 or to Alzheimer Disease and Related Disorders Assoc., National Capital Area Chapter, 3700 Pender Dr., Suite 400, Fairfax, VA 22030.
