Charles J. Williams

Charles Jerry Williams, 83, of Estero, FL, formerly of Leesburg, Va, and Charles Town, WV, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, in Bonita Springs, FL. He was the husband of the late Jean (Payne) Williams for 56 years. He was predeceased by his two brothers, George Williams III and Paul Williams. Charles was born in 1936 in Columbia, TN, to the late George Edward Jr. and Edna (Pipkin) Williams. He served his country in the United States Air Force’s Security Service during the Korean Conflict and Cold War era. He completed his service honorably and continued his service to our nation with his role as Senior Program Manager for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Mr. Williams retired from the federal government after 28 years. In his retirement, he was a realtor, small business owner and public servant. He was elected to the Leesburg Vir-ginia Town Council in 1984 and served as Leesburg’s Vice Mayor. Mr. Williams served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher of the Guilford Baptist Church in Sterling, Va., and later attended Leesburg Baptist Church and Charles Town Baptist Church. Mr. Williams devoted himself to his four grandsons and shared with them his passion for golf. He was a member and former president of the Charles Town Lions Club. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Moose and American Legion. He is survived by his son, David (Leslie) Williams; and four grandsons, Ben (Amanda), Daniel, Matthew, and Samuel; and one great-granddaughter, Chloe Jean. Interment will be at Culpeper National Cemetery in Virginia, and services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice, Bonita Springs, Florida, hopehospice.org. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home Family.
