Diana May Menefee, age 89, of Leesburg, died November 19, 2022, while living in Richmond, Virginia. She was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1933 to Dorothy M. Dow and Clyde C. May.
She considered herself a semi-native, having moved to Leesburg from Laurel Maryland in 1968. She worked for Loudoun Social Services for 23 years and loved most of all working with ADC mothers and foster children. After retirement, she went into business for herself, becoming a home-health aide.
She was a charter member of the original Loudoun County Hotline in the early 1970’s and a charter member of the gospel singing group, Mosaic Harmony, for 23 years.
Diana’s legacy is the many diverse relationships she cultivated and nurtured into lifelong friendships. At any given time, anyone she knew was welcomed into her home for a cup of tea and conversation or for an extended stay for as long as needed. She loved her home and took pride in her yardwork.
She loved being with family and friends. Her many interests included Unitarian retreats, singing, playing the Ukulele, yoga, nature, and animals.
She leaves behind, children Paul, Mary Ann, Camille, Dee, Herb, seven grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Donations can be sent in her memory to Humane Society of Loudoun County or the Unitarian Universalist Church of Sterling. A memorial service is planned for April 22, 2023, in Purcellville, Virginia.
