Donald Lancelot Ames

Donald Lancelot Ames, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022, at the Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Donald was born to John Henry and Millicent Ames on August
8, 1958, in Georgetown, Guyana and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He attended Colorado Technical University and obtained a master’s degree in Information Systems Security.

In 1984, Donald enlisted in the U.S. Navy and attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer, as a Mass Communications Specialist for 24 years. Donald is survived by his wife Cynthia Ames; children, Jibri Ames, Natasha Featherstone, Renese Ames, Donald Salim Ames, Dominique Ames, Donald Ahmad Ames, Jaleh Ames, Crystal Wilson, Brittini Blissett, and Christopher Mayes; grandchildren, Silas, Siana, and Orion; mother Millicent Ames; sisters, Judy Semple and Marcelle Gilkes; brothers, Jenvy Ames and Winston Henry; and a host of beloved niec- es and nephews.

Viewing and visitation was held on Thursday Oct. 20, 2022 at 9:30 am until time of service at 10:30 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 6477 Lincolnia Road, Alexandria, VA 22312. Interment at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle VA.
