Floyd (Buck) Simpson, age 94 of Madison County, Virginia passed away on December 27, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born August 29, 1926 in Valley Spring, Texas to J.J. Simpson and Bonnie Hanning Simpson and was the seventh of eleven siblings.
Floyd grew up during the depression working on his father’s ranch, rode a horse to a one room school house and relished those times when he would get to ride into town on a wagon with his father. He was a World War II veteran who served in the Pacific Theater. After his return from service he held several jobs while training in the electronics field.
Floyd moved from Texas to Kentucky to attend electronics schooling. He met Mary Margaret (Peggy) Head and they married on September 26, 1950. Peggy and Floyd moved to Arlington, Virginia where he finished his schooling. In 1955 they moved to Leesburg and opened Loudoun’s only TV repair shop at the time. They purchased a small farm outside Ashburn, Vir-ginia in 1956 and moved their family there. He was active in the Ashburn Volunteer Fire Department, PTA and youth athletics. He purchased the TV repair company in 1963 and operated it until it’s closing to take a position with Fairfax County Public Schools in 1969 as an Electronics Super-visor. He retired in 1988 and they moved to Cedar Ridge Farm in Madison County, Virginia. They remained married for nearly 50 years until her death in July of 2000.
Floyd was an avid outdoorsman who was always ready for a fishing or hunting trip, or a round of golf. He enjoyed raising beef cattle and farming.
Floyd met and married his second wife, Betty Graves in 2006. They enjoyed each other’s company immensely taking drives to Skyline Drive and farming together until Betty’s passing in 2011.
Floyd is survived by his sister Frances Minville Simpson Blevins of Plano, Texas and his brother Jimmy Hanning Simpson of Valley Spring, Texas, his sons Loyd John (Johnny) Simpson II (wife Roz Simpson) of Ashburn, Virginia and Floyd Robert (Bobby) Simpson (wife Amy Simpson) of Amissville, Virginia, grandchildren Joseph Floyd Simpson (wife Laura Simpson), Jake Simpson, Jessica Taylor Simpson, Tucker Samuel Simpson and many nieces, nephews, and family in the Hill Country of Texas.
There will be a private family graveside service held. In the spring, a Celebration of Life will be held. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Our Father’s House Christian Home located at 15216 Jubilee Rd, Culpeper, Virginia 22701.
