Marguerite Jeanne Geraldine Josephine Levaux Dudney

Marguerite Jeanne Geraldine Josephine Levaux Dudney passed away on June 25, 2019 at the age of 94 in her daughter’s home in Lucketts, Virginia. She was born in Vise, Belgium, but grew up in Angleur, Belgium where she lived until her marriage to Charles Luther Dudney in February 1946. She was one of many war brides who sailed Grace Line’s new ship names the “Santa Paula” into New York two months later. She was a dedicated housewife who faithfully supported her husband throughout his career as an officer in U.S. Army and with him raised four children while traveling from one duty station to another. She followed her great uncle’s passion for voice and opera and took up voice lessons in Paris, France while stationed there. Her operatic voice would turn heads and landed her a solo part in a recorded, televised mass in 1982. Her membership in the Welcome to Belgium association in Brussels, Belgium, gave her the opportunity to accompany spouses and partners of members of the diplomatic corps accredited to H.M. the King, the European. Union and NATO, as well as civil servants and military personnel of these institutions on tours and events throughout Belgium. She and her husband enjoyed many wonderful retirement years in Belgium. She was preceded in death by her son, John, her husband Charles, and her brother Guillaume Jean Henri Gerard Hubert Levaux. She is survived by children Rosemary, Michael, and Anne-Marie, grandchildren Justin, Lauren, Adam, and Erin and one great-grandchild, Grant. A mass in Ondenval, Belgium and Christian burial in Thirimont, Belgium will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers at
