He wasn’t a big man in stature. But he filled a room with his outgoing personality, high energy and sense of humor. And if he had his drumsticks in his hands, he really did fill the room.

It’s quiet now. Michael J. Marchione left us, peacefully, November 16, 2021, at the age of 56.

Born in Delaware County, PA, May 5, 1965, Michael grew up in Bucks County, PA, where he attended New Hope-Solebury schools. He expressed an interest in music at an early age and received his first drum when he was 5. Michael continued to expand his abilities through high school, starting his own band and performing at local events.

He then set his sights on Berklee College of Music in Boston, a prestigious music school. At the time he submitted his application, he couldn’t even read music. His audition as a percussionist won him acceptance. He graduated in 1988.

There he met his soulmate and the love of his life, Marlena Ely, a petite singer whose voice can also fill a room. Married in 1991, they formed a band, performing in a variety of venues, from Maine to Florida and even Portugal. Then came their daughters, Danielle, now 27, and Brittney, now 25. Life as a band on the road was not conducive to raising a family. They settled in Leesburg, VA, and Michael took his talents to a different stage — sales and later sales training. His stage presence and charisma made him an entertaining instructor and very successful.

Michael will be remembered as a loving and kind husband, father, son, brother and friend. He was always ready to listen and help, without judgment. He leaves behind many family members, friends and colleagues who will miss his beautiful smile, bright blue eyes and ready wit.

Before he left this earth, he filled a room once again, as his wife, daughters, parents, Janet and Joseph Marchione, siblings, Joseph, John and Lisa Marchione, all of Doylestown, PA, and Jena Marchione (Rosenblum) of Falls Mountain, CT, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews gathered to say good bye to the man who had filled their hearts.
