On Monday, November 2, 2020, Nancy Wogan, a cornerstone in the hearts of many, passed away at the age of 80.

Nancy was born the eighth daughter to Cirus Mirt and Nettie Frances Harriger on May 16, 1940 in Rupert, WV. After graduating high school, she braved leaving her small town for the streets of Washington, D.C. There she met her husband and the love of her life, Jesse Wogan. They were married on October 3, 1964, and raised their daughter, Jodie, and son, Jeff.

Nancy and her family called Purcellville, VA their home. Her passion in life was being a loving wife, mother, and friend. She will be remembered for her time volunteering at Lincoln Elementary School, with the Girl Scouts and the Boy Scouts, at the Fireman’s Field Concession Stand, and as a Stephen Minister. Of all her jobs, she smiled most when speaking of her time at Caulkins Jewelers and Merit Construction. She was an accomplished Toll painter and crafter. Nancy loved Chincoteague Island. She considered it her sanctuary and joyfully shared it with many.

Nancy was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband, and six of her sisters, Margarette Heaster, Nina McClung, Louise Farren, Clara Sharp, Ella Ruth “Puff” Champa, and Mildred Kidd. She was also preceded in death by several dear friends, Caroline Hagaman, Madeline Evans, Barbara Cabanas, Flora Rives, and Marion Appeal. She is survived by her sister, Joyce Jackson; her brother-in-law, Dennis Kidd; her daughter and son-in-law, Jodie and Andy Musgrove (their daughter and son-in-law, Meghan and Nick Mercer, and their daughters Morgan and Mallory); and her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Susan Wogan (their daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Jake McConville and their daughter, Olivia, and their three sons, Matthew, Conor, and Thomas).

Funeral services will be held November 14, 2020 at the Leesburg Baptist Church (Leesburg Community Church) 835 Lee Ave SW, Leesburg, VA. The viewing will begin at 10:30 a.m. with services at noon. Flowers may be sent to Hall Funeral Home in Purcellville, VA. Please make donations in lieu of flowers to the Boulder Crest Foundation or the Wounded Warrior Project.
