Paul F. Santmyer

Paul F. Santmyer, loving and devoted husband of his high-school sweetheart, Macy Jewell Santmyer, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 26, 2021 at his home in Hamilton, VA. Paul was born on February 23, 1932 in Bluemont Virginia to Roy and Ruth Santmyer. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956 as a corporal and a cryptographer. Upon returning to civilian life, he began a career at Purcellville Safeway which spanned 30 years. Paul and Macy were married in 1952 and enjoyed almost 69 wonderful years together. They made their home in Hamilton, VA for the past 67 years.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Macy J. Santmyer; son, Larry Santmyer and wife Mahala; grandsons, Paul Secord and wife Dawn, and Matthew W. Santmyer; great granddaughters, Josephine and Reagan Secord; siblings Jane Cooper, Alice Mansfield, and James Santmyer and wife Marguerite; along with a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Mabel Reed, Helen Alder, and Lucille Shupe. Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, and brother, as well as a faithful friend to many.

Paul was a long time member of The Worship Center Assembly of God Church in Leesburg, VA where he served with devotion as Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, as well as the song leader for many years.

We mourn his passing from this earth, but rejoice at his arrival at his final destination in Heaven. Paul provided humor, generosity, and inspiration to his family and to those he came in contact with.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Hall Funeral Home in Purcellville, VA on March 30, 2021.

The family will receive friends from 12-1, with the service immediately following at 1pm. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery.
