Raye Ann Walker Kauffman, 63, of Purcellville, Virginia passed away far too soon on Friday, August 16, 2019. Raye Ann was born in Paducah, Kentucky on February 25, 1956 to James "Cotton" and Shirley Anne Connor Walker. She was a 1974 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School and received Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Early Childhood Development from Murray State University. Raye Ann taught first grade for 16 years in the Paducah City school system where she touched numerous lives, young and old alike. Raye Ann loved her adopted community of Purcellville, Virginia and since she never met a stranger, she was easily able to become friends with anyone that crossed her path. One of her passions prior to retirement was the Purcellville Rotary, which Raye Ann belonged to for 20 years. In that time, she was the first woman to serve as President and to date, is the only member to serve in that capacity for multiple terms. Raye Ann loved to hunt, camp, and travel with her best friend and soul mate Jeff. One of their most recent journeys took them back to Paducah where she was able to visit, reconnect with, and introduce Jeff to people that were important in her life. Raye Ann is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Nye Kauffman of Purcellville, Virginia; her father, James "Cotton" and wife Jane Mabry Walker of Knoxville, Tennessee; her daughter, Lindsey Raye Heath Stone and husband John of Moseley, Virginia; her sons, Connor Jarvis Heath of Naples, Florida, Mitchell Nye Kauffman and fiance Alissa Gamelier of Ashburn, Virginia, and Spencer William Kauffman of Sterling, Virginia; her sister-in-law Amy Birmingham and husband Gary of Bend, Oregon; her brother-in-law Glenn Kauffman and wife Kathleen of Fairfax, Virginia; her nephews Dale (Vicky) Heath and Jay Heath of Kentucky, Jody Heath of Tennessee and Pierson (Stephanie) Prutzman of Oregon; her nieces Janee Heath and Jenna (Dustin) Roberts of Kentucky, Nichole (Sam) Merrill of Virginia and Angelika Prutzman of Oregon. Also surviving are all those that called her "Raye Raye"; her beloved grandchildren Alexandra Walker Stone and John Carter Stone, Jr., her great-nephew and great-niece Finn and Hazel Merrill, and family friends Beau and Gunnar Yuska. Raye Ann was preceded in death by her mother Shirley Anne Connor Walker, her maternal grandparents Harry and Reba Shelton Connor, her paternal grandparents Willard and Bernice Alexander Walker and her parents-in-law Garnet and Joyce Jarrell Kauffman. A memorial service will be held at Hall Funeral Home of Purcellville, VA on Saturday August 24, 2019 beginning at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to The Oscar Cross Boys and Girls Club, P.O. Box 203, Paducah KY 42002 or to another charity of your choice.
