Robert  Eugene Graves Sr.

Robert Eugene Graves Sr., 91, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 19.

Robert was born on May 31, 1929, in Exeter, Missouri. After growing up on the family farm, Robert served honorably as Staff Sergeant for the United States Air Force before attending Benjamin Franklin University (Washington, D.C.). He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and joined IBM where he worked for more than 30 years in a variety of financial and administrative leadership roles. The family resided on Chesapeake Drive in Great Falls, Virginia, for many years. Robert traveled the world during his time with IBM and lived in many locations including Paris, Tokyo and Hong Kong. After retiring in 1988, he settled in Tysons Corner, Virginia, to be close to family and friends.

Robert’s passions included photography and hiking. He captured breathtaking pictures from exotic locations and loved to hike the trails around Great Falls.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Mae Graves. He is survived by daughters, Cynthia Graves Burke, Andrea Graves Shelton, Kerry Graves Fay; son, Robert Graves Jr.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert is also survived by the mother of his children, Joan Vincent Fanello.
