Robert Oscar Mueller, Sr.

Robert O. Mueller passed away of natural causes Wednesday, October 20,2021 at his home in Middleburg, Virginia. Mr. Mueller was born January 22,1921 in Saginaw, Michigan. At the time of his passing he was 100 years of age.

Robert’s parents were Otto Mueller and Olga Mathes Mueller who emigrated from Russia prior to World War 1. Shortly after his birth his family moved to the Columbus, Ohio area. He graduated from Bexley High School in 1938 and attended Capital University, Bexley Ohio from 1938- 1941.

He was drafted by the United States Army Air Corp in 1942 and was a transport pilot for the duration of World War ll. One of his major tasks was to fly over the hump to transport troops and supplies to the Asian theater. After leaving his military position in 1946 Mr. Mueller began his career as a commercial airline pilot when he joined Allegheny Air Lines in 1949. He continued his career as an Airline Captain for 32 years retiring from USAir in 1981.

Robert O. Mueller was married to Dorinne Janett Manrose 1946-1970 and Lois Ryno 1974-2011. He is survived by Robert Mueller Jr., MIddleburg, Va./Richard Mueller, Clifton, Va./ Craig Mueller, Mooresville, NC.,/ Christopher Mueller, Middleburg, Va./and Ruth Anita Mueller, Missouri (sister), and 9 grandchildren.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Trinity Luther Church, 605 W Market St, Leesburg, VA 20176 where a service will begin at 11:00 am. A reception will follow at 12:00 pm. Interment will begin at 1:00 pm at Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
