Robert Randolph “Bob” Dawson

Robert (“Bob”) Dawson passed into eternity on May 27, 2020 at his home in Bolivar, West Virginia. Bob was born on September 18, 1932 to Catherine Tavenner Dawson and Sewell Randolph Dawson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lucille Thompson Dawson, his brother Tom Dawson, and his long-time companion and partner Georgie (“Joy”) Milbourne Brown. Bob retired from Fairfax County School Board after 25 years working as a HVAC service technician. He had a gift to be able to fix just about anything and didn’t get rid of something because it was old or worn. After retiring, he moved from his home place in Philomont, Virginia to Bolivar. Bob was a simple, self-made man. He worked hard and took pride in whatever he did. He was an honest man who trusted a person’s word and many a deal was sealed with just a handshake. He was kind, giving, humble and honorable - qualities instilled by a godly mother. Many lives are blessed because he was a part of it. Bob is survived by his brother Don Dawson, his sister Laura Pearson, step-daughter Phyllis Fletcher and the children and grandchildren of Joy who adopted him many years ago as one of their own. The viewing was held at Eackles Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV on Monday, June 1, 2020 at 1:00 pm with funeral services beginning at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Ebenezer Cemetery, Bluemont, Virginia. Condolences may be expressed at www.eackles-spencerfuneralhome.com
