Shirley Jean Catterton, 85, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2020. Born October 17, 1934, in Anawalt, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Frank Hurt and Winnie Luck Hurt. A graduate of Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, she retired as a Registered Nurse from the Loudoun County Government in 2012. Shirley enjoyed bringing smiles to everyone she met, especially through her hobby as “Sparkles” the Clown. She was an avid golfer and a devout Christian. Shirley was a member of Fellowship Bible Church. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Edward Lee Catterton. She is survived by one daughter, Deirdre Catterton of Charles Town, WV; two sons, Edward Catterton of Charles Town, and Stewart Catterton and wife Carol of Waterford, VA; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Service were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Fellowship Bible Church, 160 Daniel Road, Shenandoah Junction, WV 25442, with Pastor Van Marsceau officiating. Interment will be private. The family received friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV.
