W. Jeannette Goeke

Jeannette (Best) Goeke, age 68, passed away June 25 at INOVA Loudoun Hospital. She never stopped putting her family first and being kind to others despite a long battle with a rare disease. Ask someone who knew her and they'd probably just say "she's a really nice lady." Born January 17, 1951 in Dayton, TN to William Earl and Billie Jeanne (Breedlove)Best, she lived in Germany, the Panama Canal Zone and Austin,TX among other places. But in 1987, she settled down. Finding her forever home in Leesburg, VA, living the rest of her life there; loving the historic nature of the town and the seemingly endless opportunities to go antiquing; looking forward to her next favorite fair or festival. Over the course of a long career, with smarts and grit, she advanced from a secretary hired on a temporary basis to sought-after business manager at TRW and Northrop Grumman. After retiring, she was happiest working in her yard and garden or reading a good book. Although a deeply private person, she volunteered for a long-term study of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda MD and was grateful for the exceptional care they provide. She is survived by her loving husband, Kevin, daughter Cathryn, son George(MacKenzie), grandchildren Nicholas, Grace and Alexander, her brothers David (Tammi) and John (Maurey), their children as well as her long-time friend June Freestone. Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 20 at 11:00 am at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg, VA. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
