On behalf of the members of the Leesburg District of the Loudoun County Democratic Committee, we reaffirm our support for Mayor Kelly Burk with respect to her actions regarding the recent issue of proclamations being brought before Town Council. Over the decades, Mayor Burk has demonstrated support for communities of color by bringing the Diversity Committee to the Town Council and the LBGTQ community by adding non-discriminatory language to the town hiring policy. She has encouraged the Leesburg Town Police in their outreach efforts to the Hispanic community and has supported all minority communities by bringing the anti-hate resolution before the Town Council. She has recently recognized local African American leaders by naming Lassiter Way in honor of Nelson “Mutt” Lassiter and continues to be unwavering in her support and concern for the fair treatment of all members of the greater Leesburg community.

We respect her for upholding the dignity and decorum of the Town Council and all of its members by following the rules and procedures therein, and for being a mayor who represents all of the people of Leesburg.

Any of the brainiacs who comment on the LTM ever figure out why Burk ruled Fox's motion out of order. She gave no explanation? Dictator Burk!
