The Independence Tigers won the Class 5 title and the Broad Run Spartans claimed the Class 4 crown at the 2021 Virginia High School League State Competition Cheer Championships on Nov. 6 at the Siegel Center in Richmond.

Independence scored 272.5 points on its final routine to edge runner-up Stafford by five points for the Class 5 state championship. The Tigers earned the highest score among the 20 teams competing in Class 2 through Class 6.

Broad Run scored 253.5 points to finish more than 10 points ahead of runner-up Grafton for the Class 4 state title.
