The Stone Bridge Bulldogs, the Loudoun County Captains and the John Champe Knights each won first-round games to kick off the 2022 varsity football postseason.
Stone Bridge rolled past William Flemming 38-7 in the Region 5D quarterfinals Nov. 11 in Ashburn. The Bulldogs have won 34 of their last 35 games.
The two-time reigning Virginia Class 5 state champion Bulldogs (10-1) will host Riverbend (9-2) in the regional semifinals Nov. 18.
Loudoun County reeled off 28 unanswered points in the third quarter to pull away from John Handley for a 42-13 win in the Region 4C quarterfinals Nov. 12 in Leesburg.
The unbeaten Captains (11-0) will host Sherando (7-4) in the Region 4C semifinals Nov. 18.
John Champe delivered another big offensive effort in a 44-25 win over Forest Park in the Region 6B quarterfinals Nov. 11 in Aldie.
With a majority of Loudoun schools competing in Class 4 or Class 5, John Champe is the first Loudoun football team to win a Class 6 playoff game.
