The Class 5 Stone Bridge Bulldogs and the Class 4 Broad Run Spartans will play for state championships in their respective classifications after both teams won state semifinal football games Saturday afternoon.

Region 5D champion Stone Bridge denied a two-point conversion attempt by Region 5C champion Highland Springs to hold on for a 28-26 victory at home in the Class 5 semifinals.

Region 4C champion Broad Run scored a touchdown in the final minute of regulation to rally past Region 4D champion Salem for a 28-24 road win in the Class 4 semifinals.

The Spartans (2008, 2009) and the Bulldogs (2007, 2020) will each aim to win their third overall state championship Dec. 11.

Broad Run (13-1) will face Varina (12-1) in the Class 4 final at Liberty University in Lynchburg.

Stone Bridge (14-0) will play Maury (8-1) in the Class 5 title game at Old Dominion University in Norfolk.
