The Purcellville Cannons begin their third season in Loudoun County Friday night at home versus the Front Royal Cardinals. The Cannons will once again play their home games at Fireman's Field in downtown Purcellville.
The Cannons compete in the North Divison of the 11-team Valley Baseball League, a non-profit wooden bat collegiate summer league. The Cannons provided home fans with ample reason to cheer in 2017, placing atop the North with a 26-16 record during the regular season.
Purcellville heads into the 2018 season with a roster that feature players from colleges across the nation, including South Carolina and Kansas State. Three local players - catcher Eric Naylor and pitchers Justin Ager and Ryan Miles - will wear Cannons' maroon this summer.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. for Friday's opener, with first pitch at 7 p.m. Single-game admission is $5 and kids wearing their little league uniform get in free with a paying adult.
Tickets are discounted for seniors and free for active duty military with ID. Family and season ticket packages are available.
