The Freedom Eagles used a second-half run to pull away from the host Tuscarora Huskies for a 67-48 victory in the varsity boys' basketball season opener for both teams Monday night in Leesburg.

Freedom, a Virginia Class 5 state finalist a season ago, received a game-high 27 points from senior Robbie Kemmerer, who added seven rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Lance Johnson added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Eagles, while Anish Kalyan reached double figures with 11 points.

Jadon White paced Tuscarora with 16 points, five assists, five rebounds and five steals. Andre Patterson scored nine points and dished three assists for the Huskies, and Jalen Smith added six points and seven rebounds.
