Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC netted a goal late in regulation to overcome a strong defensive effort by host Loudoun United FC for a 1-0 victory Saturday night at Segra Field in Leesburg.
Albert Dikwa scored off an assist by Steevan Dos Santos in the 81st minute for the game's lone goal. Pittsburgh extended its winning streak to five games.
Pittsburgh (10-3-1, 31 points) sits six points ahead of Hartford Athletic (8-3-1, 25 points) for first place in the USL Championship's Group F standings. Both teams have secured playoff berths.
Loudoun (1-9-3, 6 points) has been limited to two goals combined in its last five games. The Red-and-White have been eliminated from playoff contention with three games remaining in the regular season.
Following a road trip to play Charleston Battery on Sept. 26, Loudoun will close out the season with home games against New York Red Bulls II on Sept. 30 and North Carolina FC on Oct. 4.
