HHS field hockey region champs

The Heritage Pride defeated host Liberty 2-1 in the Region 4D field hockey tournament championship game Thursday. Heritage will host a Virginia Class 4 state quarterfinal game next week.

After field hockey and volleyball playoffs took center stage Thursday, football dominated the varsity landscape Friday night with 13 Loudoun teams playing their regular season finales.

Broad Run scored 21 consecutive points in the second and third quarters on its way to a 35-21 win over Ashburn rival Stone Bridge in a matchup of previously undefeated football teams.

Independence, John Champe, Loudoun County, Potomac Falls, Tuscarora and Woodgrove also earned wins during the final week of the varsity football regular season.

Heritage and Riverside claimed regional field hockey championships Thursday.

Loudoun County netted the Dulles District volleyball title Thursday evening, while Briar Woods, Independence and Stone Bridge advanced in the regional volleyball playoffs.
