Jalen Coker catch

Senior Jalen Coker and the Potomac Falls Panthers are No. 5 in the latest VHSL football power ratings for Region 5C. The top six teams from Region 5C advance to the postseason.

The Virginia High School League released their latest football power ratings Monday. With only one week remaining in the regular season, a strong contingent of Loudoun teams are in solid position to qualify for the postseason.

The VHSL football power ratings help determine qualification and seeding for the playoffs. The top eight teams based on power points in a majority of regions qualify for the postseason.

In Region 4C, consisting of 15 teams from the Dulles and Northwestern districts, the top four teams from each district -- based on district records -- advance to the playoffs.

Broad Run and Tuscarora have locked up playoff bids, while Dominion, Loudoun County and Loudoun Valley are vying for the other two Dulles District spots.

In the nine-team Region 5C that features seven Loudoun schools, the top six teams based on power points qualify for the playoffs.

The top two seeds -- currently Stone Bridge and Briar Woods -- earn a first-round bye. Woodgrove, Riverside and Potomac Falls occupy spots three through five in Region 5C.

John Champe is right on the bubble as Loudoun's only team in Region 6B. The Knights are in eighth place entering their season finale against Freedom-South Riding.

First-year Independence ranks ninth in Region 3B. The Tigers earned their first win in program history Nov. 1 against Park View.
