Loudoun Valley High School senior Ava Gordon crossed the finish line in 18 minutes, 41.7 seconds to place 35th in the girls' 5K race at the 2021 Eastbay Cross-Country Championships National Finals Dec. 11 in San Diego, California.

Gordon (17:22.78) placed 10th in the Eastbay South Regional race Nov. 27 in Charlotte, North Carolina to earn a spot in the national finals. The top 10 finishers from the South, Northeast, Midwest and West regional races advanced to the finals.

Natalie Cook of Texas placed first in the national finals with a finish time of 17:15. Riley Hough of Michigan paced the field in the boys' 5K race, crossing the finish line first in 15:11.4.

Gordon helped lead Loudoun Valley to its fourth consecutive Virginia Class 4 state cross-country championship in the fall. Gordon also claimed the Class 4 individual title.
