The Independence Tigers earned a spot in the Virginia Class 3 state boys' basketball semifinals following a triple overtime victory against top seed Skyline in the Region 3B championship game.

Regional champions Independence (Class 3 boys), Loudoun Valley (Class 4 girls), Potomac Falls (Class 5 girls) and Stone Bridge (Class 5 boys) have advanced to the Virginia High School League State Basketball Tournament.

All four area teams will play on the road Wednesday in the state semifinals. State championship games in each classification are scheduled for Saturday.

Semifinals, Feb. 17

Class 5 boys

Stone Bridge at Patrick Henry-Roanoke, 6:30 p.m.

L.C. Bird at Green Run

Class 5 girls

Potomac Falls at Patrick Henry-Roanoke, 4:30 p.m.

L.C. Bird at Princess Anne

Class 4 girls

Loudoun Valley at Pulaski County, 4 p.m.

Louisa County at Grafton

Class 3 boys

Independence at Hopewell, 5 p.m.
