LVHS Sam Affolder 2018

Sam Affolder of Loudoun Valley High School competes in the 2018 VHSL State Cross Country Championships at Great Meadow near The Plains.

Varsity cross country teams from Broad Run, Heritage, Loudoun Valley, Stone Bridge and Tuscarora high schools have combined to win 13 Virginia High School League state championships.

Loudoun Valley has claimed seven state titles -- five boys and two girls -- within the last five seasons. The Viking boys have raced to five consecutive state championships -- the second longest streak in VHSL history -- while Valley's girls have won back-to-back state crowns.

Tuscarora's girls team raced to three state championships (2017, 2015, 2014) during a four-year span. Broad Run's boys (1973), Heritage's girls (2015) and Stone Bridge's boys (2015) have also won VHSL cross country titles.
