Louisville City FC scored late in the first half and early in the second half to secure a 2-0 home victory over Loudoun United FC in United Soccer League Championship action Saturday night.

Fresh off their first win of the season, Loudoun United produced 13 shots in Saturday's game -- including four on goal -- but were unable to solve Louisville City goalkeeper Benjamin Lundt.

"I thought there were some positive actions and moments but not enough against a quality veteran team like Louisville," Loudoun United head coach Ryan Martin said. "We need more of a fighting mentality to get ourselves into the game quicker."

Loudoun (1-3-1, 4 points) remains tied for fourth place in the five-team Group F standings. Louisville City (3-3-1, 10 points) is third in Group E.

Loudoun will next play its first home game of the season Wednesday against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (4-3, 12 points).

"It only gets tougher ... facing the top team in the east last year in Pittsburgh," Martin said. "The Riverhounds are very skilled, dangerous and physical. It will be a tough challenge for our guys."

The game kicks off at 7 p.m. at Segra Field in Leesburg. Following CDC and local health authority guidelines, a limited number of tickets are available. More details at
