Nominations are open for the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame’s annual Student-Athlete Achievement Awards.

The Virginia Sports Hall of Fame is accepting applications through Oct. 23 for its 16th annual Student-Athlete Achievement Awards.

The awards are presented to high school juniors and seniors from across the state that excel academically, athletically and in their communities.

Applicants/nominees must meet the following criteria: attend high school (public or private) in Virginia; be a junior or senior during the 2020-2021 academic year; letter in at least one Virginia High School League or Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association sanctioned sport; and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Student-athletes may submit an application themselves, or be nominated by a family member, coach, administrator or mentor. Individuals completing the application will be asked to include details and references that support the student’s achievements in each of the areas of focus; academic, athletic and civic.

Applications and all supporting documents can be submitted through the online application at VaSportsHOF.com. Visit the website or contact Salima Ramos at info@VaSportsHOF.com.

Once all nominations are received, the selection committee will choose the finalists for the four $1,000 scholarships to be awarded to the 2020 Student Athletes of the Year. Scholarships will be awarded during a reception to be announced at a later date.
