The Richmond Spiders connected on 67 percent of their field goal attempts on their way to a 97-87 victory over the host George Mason Patriots on Saturday afternoon at EagleBank Arena in Fairfax.
Richmond's trio of Grant Golden, Jacob Gilyard and Nick Sherod combined for 64 points in the win. Tyler Burton added 12 points for the Spiders (14-4, 4-1 Atlantic 10 Conference).
Javon Greene scored a career-high 39 points and swiped five steals to pace George Mason (12-6, 1-4). AJ Wilson added 19 points and eight rebounds for the Patriots.
Loudoun Valley High School alum Jordan Miller, a sophomore guard, scored 12 points in the loss.
Both teams return to action Wednesday night. Richmond plays La Salle at home and George Mason hosts UMass at EagleBank Arena.
